SRINAGAR: The day-long outreach to listen to the grievances of the people was slightly longer than all other days as Chef Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti had to cancel her plans of driving back home. She stayed in the town for the night.

Informed sources said that the people continued coming to the Circuit House till late in the evening and by the time, her team started thinking about returning to Srinagar. it was already 11 pm. Then the decision was taken that the Chief Minister should stay out in the town and leave early morning.

Delegations, according to sources continued coming. There were individuals who insisted that they should get orders for redressal of their grievances on spot. Some even stayed back to take the order along.

One lawmaker of the area had uploaded a small video that had two demands: one a particular district should get a minister. The other demand was that the party should start taking care of its workers who have been neglected for a very long time.

An official spokesman said that the Chief Minister met almost 100 delegations on Sunday. These included a cross-section of the people including women and children. Most of the meetings were one to one and orders were issued on the spot.

However, the night sojourn ofthe Chief Minister in the highly senstive Pulwama kept the security grid on tenter hooks for the whole night. For the entire night, the town was with the security set up involving police, paramiliatry and the army. The town has been, off late, quite restive, especially after the army barged into the local college that marked the beginning of campus unrest in Kashmir. Usually Chief Minister’s avoid staying in peripheral districts of Jammu and Srinagar.
