One person died and five others were injured in two separate road accidents across the valley, a police statement said on Monday.

A truck bearing registration number Jk01B/5477 turned turtle and fell into a deep gorge near Captain Mode, Zojilla “resulting in on spot death of the driver Mohammad Yusuf Mir son of Assadullah Mir resident of Bonibagh, Kangan.” Ganderbal police retrieved the body of the driver and handed it over to his legal heirs after completion of all formalities.

Meanwhile, a Tipper bearing registration number Jk13B/2517 collided with a Tata Sumo bearing registration number Jk03A near Akoora crossing. “Two persons travelling in this Tata Sumo were injured in the mishap. Both the injured were shifted to Hospital for treatment,” the statement said.

The statement further said, “in another accident, a Tipper bearing registration number UP25AT/5954 and a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number Jk03C/8797 collided at Tarigam, Kulgam. Two persons including the driver of the Tavera were injured in this accident.”

In another accident, “a Tata Sumo bearing registration number Jk09/7688 hit and injured 22 years old Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah resident of Hatmullah near Jamkash, Bumhama. The injured was shifted to SKIMS, Soura for treatment,” the statement added. Meanwhile polie officials concerned have registered cases in the accidents and started investigations.
