On Saturday morning when everything was scheduled to be normal, shopkeepers were opening  their shops in Sopore town but some ‘miscreants’ started pelting stones and forced them to close their shops, police said.

Stones were pelted on civilian vehicles in Seelu, Aseer, Muslimpeer, Chankhan, Amargarh, Sangrama and Ranji as well which resulted in damage to two dozen private vehicles injuring many civilians.

“One pregnant lady Zarifa of Kupwara and a two year old child namely Tabish also got injured by stone pelting from miscreants near Sangrama. While as SHO Tarzu (Amargarh) Sopore, 5 other policemen and 3 CRPF personnel were also injured in clashes with the stone pelters”, police spokesperson said.

Thereafter police said that they chased the stone pelters and shops in some parts of the town opened and roads were also made though.

However police informed that  they have registered a case and investigation is going on.
