In a rare incident of ‘powerful’ versus local, at least six National Conference (NC) activists were injured after they were attacked by a group of shopkeepers in Lower Munda area of Islamabad district, after they refused to pay for tea they had at a stall.
A per some eyewitnesses the NC activists were attacked after they had an argument with the shop-keepers. The activists were carrying the party flags and were there to welcome the visiting party leadership.
“Some NC activists refused to pay a tea stall owner after they had tea in the stall,” reports said, “This irked the tea seller as well as other shopkeepers and they started to argue with the NC activists,”
The NC activists, according to reports roughed up tea-stall owner and used abusive language against him.
“This agitated the shopkeepers in the vicinity and soon they started to pelt stones at the NC workers, injuring half a dozen of them,” eye witnesses said.
Reports said that the shop-keepers also attacked the vehicles carrying the NC activists and damaged them.
The police taking cognizance of the matter registered a case against the shop-keepers.
Station House Officer (SHO), Qazigund, Tariq Ahmad TaK while confirming the incident said that a case has been registered against the attackers.
“One of the NC activists has been reported injured,” Tak said, “He said that situation was soon brought under control after police intervened and a case has been registered,”
