1.27 Lakh Kg Polythene, Single-Use Plastic Seized in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has informed that more than 1.27 lakh kilograms of polythene and single-use plastic were seized across the Union Territory between 2020 and November 2025.

The seizures were carried out during enforcement drives aimed at upholding the ban on polythene and single-use plastics, which contribute to environmental degradation, blocked drainage systems, and water pollution.

Authorities conducted regular inspections, raids, and awareness campaigns to prevent the manufacture, sale, storage, and use of banned plastic items, covering both urban and rural areas.

The government said these measures reflect its commitment to reducing plastic pollution and promoting sustainable alternatives, and warned that strict action will continue against violators.
