The Legal Metrology Unit of district Kupwara Friday conducted the surprise inspection of Cement and Chowker dealers of Handwara market and goods vehicles at Chowgal and booked 12 erring dealers for short weighment and other violation under the different provisions of the Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1997 and realized a composition of Rs. 12,000 on spot.
Meanwhile during the last year in similar inspections of different localities in the district 472 cases were registered and composition of Rs. 228350 were realized from the erring traders. Besides, during the same year 22488 numbers of Weighing and Measuring instruments were standardized and a stamping fee of Rs. 262185 was collected.
