SRINAGAR: A residential house collapsed in Barnate village of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after days of heavy rain, officials said on Sunday.
The house, owned by Noor Din of Barnate, caved in during the intervening night, apparently after continuous rainfall weakened the structure.
Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported 12 members of the family were inside the house when it collapsed. All were evacuated safely and shifted to a safer place. No injuries were reported.
Revenue and district administration officials visited the spot to assess the damage.
The family is reported to have suffered heavy property loss. Officials said the assessment is underway and relief will be provided in accordance with government norms.
