SRINAGAR

Curfew continued without any relaxation in Shopian district for the 12th consecutive day on Wednesday.

Police and CRPF men remained deployed throughout the Shopian town and nobody is allowed to move outdoors.

The barricades erected by cops and concertina wires laid remained intact on the main entry and exit points in Shopian to prevent movement of the people.

The locals complained that they have run short of essential commodities due to continued curfew.

The restrictions have also cast shadow of uncertainty on booming fruit business in Shopian.

Curfew was imposed in Shopian town and its adjoining areas on September 7 after CRPF men from 14th Battalion killed four people in Gagren area of Shopian.

While the CRPF maintained that the deceased were militants who had attacked their camp, police have so far identified 3 of them as civilians with no militant links whatsoever.

Another civilian was killed by the same Battalion of CRPF personnel on September 11.
