SRINAGAR: Thirteen suspected drug peddlers were picked up for questioning during a cordon and search operation conducted at 20 locations in Waghama area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday, police said.
The operation was carried out as part of intensified action against drug peddling and was aimed at identifying and disrupting local networks allegedly involved in the illegal narcotics trade, according to a police statement.
Police said the coordinated CASO was part of sustained, intelligence-based operations against individuals and networks involved in drug peddling in the district.
The operation focused on identifying the local links of the drug trade and disrupting its supply chain, the police said.
Anantnag Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug peddling and said such operations would continue to be intensified to curb the spread of narcotics and protect young people from the menace.
