Faizan Ayoub Khan, 13 year old boy boy from Pinjura area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district won National sub junior Sqay Champion. The ‘Champions Trophy’ was held at Panchkula Haryana, in which 16 teams of different states of India participated.
About 60 boys from Shopian represented the J&K state in the event. The final was played on Thursday in which Faizan, a young Martial Art, defeated his rival from Goa.
Shopian boys bagged one Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals. The participants included: (1) Faizan Ayoub Khan of Alamandar Institute, Pinjura Shopian; (2) Hazik Nazir of Rainbow International Educational Installation Shopian; (3) Sufiyan Ayaz of Rainbow International Educational Institute Shopian; (4) Havish Hakeem of Kashmir Cambridge School Tukroo Shopian; (5) Nazim Gull of Kashmir Cambridge School Tukroo Shopian; (6) Salik Parvaaz of New Oxford Educational Institute Shopian; (7) Tajwar Tariq Of Rainbow International Educational Institute Shopian.
“This is historical event for J&K Martial Art / Sqay as our little boys bagged such prestigious title for the State,” said Shopian Sports Association President Gulam Hassan Khan.
He said, “Boys have also participated in the Internatinal Sqay Championship in the past; our ‘Sqay Boy’ Ahsan Hussan Boda from Shopian made us proud when he participated in the International Martial Art Championship held in Srilanka last year”.
