Police and paramilitary forces Friday fired tear gas shells and aerially shots to thwart mourners from reaching Kakpora town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and participating in the funeral march of slain militant Talib Afzal Shah.
Reports and witnesses said that hundreds of mourners tried to head towards the Kakpora where Talib was killed Thursday evening after a brief encounter with armed forces.
Witnesses added that clashes erupted across many parts of Pulwama in protest against the killing. Reports further said that curfew like situation prevailed across parts of Pulwama town Friday morning as authorities decided to impose restrictions in anticipation of protest marches and clashes.
