Fourteen persons were injured in different road accidents in Srinagar and Awantipora while a house was damaged in fire, police said Wednesday evening.

In Srinagar, a motorcycle collided with a divider on National Highway near Nowgam Chowk, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcyclist identified as Haseeb Ahmad Bhat resident of Sonwar. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment.

Meanwhile, an SRTC bus bearing registration number JK01Y-0420 turned turtle near Railway Crossing Nowgam, resulting in injuries to 08 passengers including the driver of the bus. All the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment. Srinagar police has registered cases regarding these accidents.

In Awantipora, a Hyundai I-10 vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-2829 turned turtle at Chursoo resulting in injuries to 05 persons including its driver. All the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

The police statement further said that a residential house was damaged in a fire incident in district Kupwara last evening.

Fire broke out in the house of Abdul Jabar Mir son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Mir Mohalla, Khurhuma in District Kupwara, resulting in partial damage to the house. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders, police and locals.

The statement added that a man attempted suicide in South Kashmir.

A man attempted to end his life by consuming some poisonous substance in Kokernag area of district Islamabad.

In an attempt to end his life, a 30 years old man (name withheld) resident of Authen Larnoo, Kokernag consumed some poisonous substance at his home. He was immediately rushed to the District Hospital Islamabad for treatment.
