The government on Thursday admitted that there are around 1638 buildings occupied by the forces in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir including 27 hotels, 5 cinema halls, 3 hospital and 18 industrial units.

Though the government claims that hectic efforts are on to vacate such building from the occupation of forces in the state, it maintained further that since 2009, 179 school buildings, 37 hospitals and 31 industrial units have been vacated from the government forces which they had occupied since the outbreak of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the KNS correspondent, while replying to the question posed by one of the legislators in the upper house, for Horticulture Abdul Rehman Veeri said that 1,474 premises and 56 bunkers have been vacated from Army and other forces in view of improvement in security environment of the state.

Of these, 179 schools, 922 private buildings, 268 government buildings, 37 hospitals, 34 hotels, 31 industrial units and 3 cinema halls have been vacated from the security forces and the Army, the minister added.

He claimed further that 56 bunkers have also been removed from public places in Srinagar from 2009 till date.

Meanwhile, elaborating further the concerned minister stated that there are various private and owned by the state government buildings which continue to remain under the occupation of the government forces. Providing the details further, he added that 1,307 private houses, 278 government buildings, 27 hotels, 5 cinema halls, 3 hospital and 18 industrial units are still under the occupation of security forces in the state and efforts are on to ensure their evacuation.”
