SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police Kashmir range Vijay Kumar Monday said 19 militants were killed in the Valley so far in this year. Among those slain are top leaders including Sajad Afghani from Shopian and Gani Khawja from north Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at police control room Srinagar, the IGP Kashmir said, 19 militants were killed in nine encounters in Kashmir of which nine were killed in the Shopian district alone.
He said that eighteen youth had joined militant ranks in 2021 so far. He added that five among 18 were killed and three have been arrested.
He also appealed to the parents to urge their kin, who have joined the militant ranks, to return back to the mainstream.
