In the last three years government has generated a revenue of more than Rs 2.6 Cr by lifting of wrong parked vehicles by traffic police in the state.

This was stated in a written reply by government in Legislative Assembly Wednesday.

Government documents mention that out of Rs 26871992 generated in three years Rs 10010866 were paid to the crane owners at the rate of Rs 242 lift of per vehicle.

In three years the more than Rs 1.6 Cr has been deposited in Government treasury, the documents reveal.

There are eight private hydraulic (207/407) cranes that have been hired by J&K Traffic Police in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar and other towns of state, as per government document.

The documents mention that, hiring of these cranes has been done after proper tendering with a provision of further extension on mutual agreement, rendering on yearly basis.
