Opposition led by National Conference Thursday cornered government over its clean chit to forces accused of vandalism and ransacking properties during the 2016 summer uprising.

Government in a written reply on Wednesday had given clean chit to the security forces. “…No damage to houses, vehicles and properties has been caused by the security forces during the recent law and order situation,” it had said in reply to a query.

MLA Langate Er Rasheed said that his vehicle was smashed and damaged by forces. “Why didn’t you mention that? Why are you lying to the people.”

NC Legislator Mian Altaf seconded Rasheed and said, “Security forces resorted to vandalism in my area and damaged public property there. Who will probe that?” he asked the government.
