2 Militants Killed In Kulgam Were involved in Silver Star Shootout: Police

Two militants were killed and a policeman also lost his life in an encounter in Kulgam. Both the slain militants were involved in the Silver Star shoot out in Srinagar, said a police spokesperson.

“Kulgam police along with 9RR and 18 CRPF launched a joint operation at Dodhipora, Kulgam in the jurisdiction of police station Kulgam. The militants fired upon the search party and tried to flee. However, the operational parties pursued them and killed both the militants in the open paddy fields between Dodhipora and Kanipora”, the spokesperson said.

“The slain militants were later identified as District commander of LeT outfit Mudisir Ahmad Sheikh @ Mawyia resident of Yamrach and Tamim, a Pakistani militant. Both the militants were involved in Silver Star shoot out in Srinagar on 19th October, 2012”, he added.

“A policeman Head Constable Niyaz Ahmad also lost his life in the encounter. Police recovered arms and ammunition at the site of encounter”, the spokesperson said.
