Srinagar:
Two Special Police Officers (SPOs) were wounded in a mysterious incident of firing at a police post in Tanta area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, reports said on Monday.
Reports said that the post, located in the mountainous Tanta area of the district, came under attack at 2 am, leaving both the on-duty SPOs seriously injured.
Police offocials of the district administraton have ruled out the inciden of being a militant attack. They said that additional police and army personnel have been rushed to the area to deal with the situation.
“10-12 gun shots were heard from the STF Post Tanta. One of the injured SPOs has received a bullet in his neck and the other in his abdomen,” they said.
Both the injured SPOs are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Doda where from they would be airlifted to Jammu for specialized treatment.
The injured SPOs have been identified as Kikar Singh No 1669/SPO and Mohd Younis No 1752/SPO.
