KISHTWAR

Three persons including a 20 days old baby died and two others sustained injuries when a Maruti car met with an accident in Kishtwar district and fell into a 200 feet deep gorge.

Maruti vehicle bearing registration No: JK13-5289 met with an accident at Drabshala on Jammu-Kishtwar Highway, some 28 KM from district headquarter Kishtwar.

As soon as the news spread the rescue teams reached the spot. As per eye witnesses the local police with the help of locals brought out the dead and injured people from the gorge.

As per the local police the vehicle was on its way from Kishtwar to Jammu when the driver of the vehicle lost control over his vehicle, due to slippery condition of the road. Police said that among the three dead, two died on spot while as the baby breathe his last at accidental hospital at Thatri.

The two injured have been identified as Zarifa Banoo (6 yrs) daughter of Ishtaq Ahmed Baghwan and Khusbu Banoo (8 yrs) daughter of Tanveer Ahmed. Police informed that they were first shifted to Thatri hospital from where both the girls were referred to JMC for advance treatment.

Till the last reports came in, police was not able to trace out the vehicle. While as the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary, SP Kishtwar, Thakur Kulbir Singh, Tehsildar Kishtwar, Inderjeet Singh Parihar along with members of Red Cross Kishtwar were on spot.

The deceased have been identified as Ishtaq Ahmed Baghwan (32 yrs) son of Mohammad Iqbal Baghwan resident of Baghwan Mohallah Kishtwar, his 20 day old son and Farooq Ahmed Malik (28 yrs) son of Ghulam Qadir Malik resident of Chatroo. After completing the legal formalities the bodies were handed over to the family members.

Red Cross Kishtwar has given the financial assistance of Rs 5000 to each injured girls.
