A Kashmiri student studying at ‘Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)’ was founded dead in his rented room late Tuesday night. Uttar Pradesh police told a Kashmir based news agency, CNS that they are waiting for the Autopsy report to know about the cause of the death.

According to reports Gulshan Ahemd Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar resident of Chak Sari Pattan was pursuing M.Phil degree from AMU. Station House Officer Pattan Mehboob Bandey told CNS that he received a call from UP Police who informed that a Kashmiri student was found dead inside his rented room. “I informed his family who has gone to Aligarh to collect the body,” he said adding that UP Police is conducting the postmortem of the body while the apparent cause of his death was acute illness.

When contacted Superintend of Police Aligarh, Sharma told CNS that Gulshan was living in a rented room in the jurisdiction of Gandhisar Police Station. “One of the friends of Gulshan after returning from Agra found the room of Gulshan locked from inside. When no one from inside opened the room, he informed police and after opening the room we found Gulshan was dead,” he said adding that Gulshan had been suffering from high fever.

He further said that room where Gulshan used to stay had no exist point except the door and it is quite probable either he might have committed suicide or died of fever. “Things will get clear once we get autopsy report,” he said.

Though the family members of the deceased, according to police official claim that Gulshan was the student of AMU, however Public Relations Officer AMU, Dr Rahid Abrar confirmed to CNS the deceased was not studying at AMU. “Kashmiri student who died in his room was not the student of AMU,” he said.

Meanwhile, people in Pattan appealed the government to get the matter investigated thoroughly and collect all the facts about his death.
