SRINAGAR: Senior IPS officer Annepu Vijaya Laxmi has taken charge as Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jammu Sector, succeeding 2004-batch IPS officer Amol Vinukant Homkar.
A 2006-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Jharkhand cadre, Vijaya Laxmi was posted to the CRPF on Central deputation under an order issued earlier this month.
She was formally relieved by the Jharkhand government to take up the Central assignment after serving as Inspector General of Police, Training, in the Jharkhand Police.
Her deputation to the Central Government had been approved in June, following which the Jharkhand Chief Secretary was asked to relieve her for the new posting.
Vijaya Laxmi assumed charge as Inspector General, CRPF Jammu Sector, taking over from Homkar, who had been posted to Jammu in February this year.
The change of guard comes at a time when the CRPF continues to play a key role in security and counter-insurgency operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
