Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCC) has conferred Robert Thorp Award 2013 to Dr K Balagopal posthumously for his “commendable role” in exposing the institutional impunity enjoyed by “Indian military forces”.
Sources in JKCCC informed Kashmir Life that Award will be presented on Tuesday afternoon in a local hotel in Srinagar.
“This award is the recognition of Dr Balagopal’s unflinching support for the right of self determination of people of J&K,” JKCCC sources said.
The Award program will host some prominent faces in civil society like Gautam Navlakha, Prof Babaiah, Dr Altaf Hussain, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, and others, who would speak on the theme of “Jammu and Kashmir and the role of Indian Civil Society”.
