SRINAGAR

Chairperson Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani is continuously under the house arrest from last 5 months while as the state administration Monday detained the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar, secretary public relations Altaf Ahmad Shah, district president Srinagar and Ganderbal Raja Mehraj-Ud-din and district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah either at their homes or in the police stations and the residences of many Hurriyat leaders including Islamic Political Party chief Mohammad Yousuf Naqash were raided by the police and every attempt was made to detain them too.

While terming the arrests and raids as the worst kind of “state terrorism”, Hurriyat (g) condemned it in strong words.

In a statement, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson said that Monday where the entire nation is remembering the bitter and harsh memories of the last year’s disastrous floods, the Mufti Sayeed is busy in arresting the people on this day which reflects that he has nothing to do with the miseries and hardships of the common people and he wants to use force and police on every issue.

The Spokesperson said that today’s program was not any political programs but the people were to raise their voices peacefully with regarding to the rehabilitation of the flood victims. “The government couldn’t tolerate this and besides officials of the different trade organizations, they also detained dozens of pro-freedom leaders and banned their peaceful programs. It is the worst kind of state terrorism and it has no constitutional or moral justifications,” the Hurriyat (g) statement said.

“The ‘iron hand’ advice of the RSS has been immediately accepted by the Mufti Sayeed and he practically begins to act in that way. Instead of that he could have approved the rehabilitation package for the flood hit people from his masters in New Delhi and he could have received some aid against the looting of the natural resources of the state, he started crackdown and silencing the voices of his own people,” the Hurriyat amalgam spokesperson said. “The status of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is just of a Show Boy and the state is directly ruled by the Indian home ministry.”

“Nothing can happen here without their permission and they consider it their service to the national cause when they harm, harass or hurt Kashmiris,” the spokesperson added.
