SRINAGAR: A youth from north Kashmir’s Sopore drowned in the Lidder River in the Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.
An official said that 21-year-old, Basit Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Rasool Bhat, resident of Sopore, drowned in Lidder Nala near Langalbal Pahalgam while bathing.
He said that he was rescued by the NDRF team and taken to the sub-district hospital Pahalgam, where he succumbed.
Further proceedings in this regard have been taken up. (KS)
