Indian consulate in Ukraine is arranging evacuation of its nationals, most of which are students, from the violence hit region.

Pertinently, India had last week issued an advisory asking its nationals to leave Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine which is witnessing frequent violent clashes between pro-Russian separatists and government forces.

“Over one thousand Indian students are studying in Ukraine which included 25 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” sources said.

Media reports said that Indian authorities have arranged 500 train tickets for on Tuesday to evacuate the Indian nationals after proper arrangements were made in cooperation with the Ukrainian government.

“Another 500 train tickets have been arranged for Wednesday to evacuate the remaining Indian students and nationals,” one of the media report said.

“The university authorities may please inform the local administration about the en masse departure of the Indian students so that adequate security arrangements are made to enable them to reach the railway station safely,” a letter to the Rector of Lugansk State Medical University from Indian ambassador in Kiev Rajiv K Chander reads.
