Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo Saturday informed the House that 26000 new cases for old age, handicapped, widows pension have been sanctioned under weed out programme.

Replying to a question by Yash Paul Kundal, Sakina said that due to paucity of funds other pending cases could not be cleared.

She also said that the Backward Classes Commission has been made fully functional by appointing its Chairperson and four members.

Regarding declaration of Backward Areas, Sakina said that all the representations have been sent to the concerned Deputy Commissioners for verifications and update information purposes as required under law.
