 Two hundred sixty eight candidates including 122 females from 10 districts in Kashmir Province appeared in the J&K Yateem Foundation’s 11th Annual Higher Education Scholarship Programme (HESP) -2013 Entrance Examination, at Kashmir Government Polytechnic, Gogji Bagh here on Sunday. 398 candidates had been enrolled for the said examination.

Candidates from  Islamabad, Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Srinagar and Shopian appeared in the examination.

J&K Yateem Foundation in collaboration with K.G. Polytechnic  Management had made adequate  arrangements  for the smooth conduct of the entrance examination. Different teams of superintendents, supervisors, volunteers and other staff from different districts associated with J&K Yateem Foundation under the supervision of Incharge HESP Examination -2013, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, JKYF District Representative Pulwama, undertook all the activities with facilitation from the Polytechnic management.

The total number of scholarships for the year 2013-14 is thirty five (35) @ Rs 5000/- per annum per candidate. This will involve an expenditure of Rs 1.75 lac.

Since 2002, 485 scholarships have been awarded till March 2013.  260 students have completed their studies while remaining 228 are being facilitated as per norms regularly. An amount of around Rs 69 Lacs has been spent by 31st March, 2013 under this programme.

Another category titled HESP Professional started in 2004, J&K Yateem Foundation has awarded 21 scholarships @ Rs 10,000/- per annum, for pursuing professional courses. Under this programme 14 candidates have completed professional courses with 05 in MBBS; 01 each in BVSc, BSc Nursing & MSc IT; 02 in BCA and 04 in B.Ed. Under HESP Professional an amount of Rs. 9 Lacs  has been spent by March 31, 2013 which includes Rs 88,000/- as One Time scholarship awarded to 22 candidates  @Rs 4000/

The result of the written test shall be published in prominent dailies in Srinagar on June 17 (Monday),  while final selection list will be made public on July  10 (Wednesday). The results shall also be  available at JKYF Central, Zonal and all District Offices. The final list is compiled on the basis of physical verification as per laid out norms.
