SRINAGAR: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Friday distributed appointment orders to 27 newly appointed AYUSH Medical Officers, formally inducting them into the government healthcare system in Jammu and Kashmir.
Congratulating the appointees, Itoo said their entry into government service was not merely a professional milestone but also a responsibility to serve people, particularly those living in rural, remote and underserved areas.
She called upon the Medical Officers to discharge their duties with sincerity, professionalism and empathy, stressing that patients place their trust in healthcare institutions and medical professionals.
“Healthcare is ultimately about serving people with dignity and compassion,” the minister said, urging the new appointees to maintain high standards of professional conduct.
Itoo also underlined the importance of the Health Department in public welfare and said the medical profession carried a special responsibility towards society.
She stressed the need to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level and asked the newly appointed officers to work with dedication to address the healthcare needs of people in rural, remote and far-flung areas.
The minister highlighted the role of AYUSH systems in complementing existing healthcare services, particularly in preventive, promotive and holistic healthcare. She asked the officers to use their expertise to expand quality AYUSH services and strengthen public healthcare infrastructure across J&K.
She also called for close coordination between the Medical Officers, health institutions and field-level functionaries for effective delivery of services and implementation of government programmes.
Itoo expressed confidence that the newly appointed officers would contribute to the government’s efforts to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.
