SRINAGAR: At least 27 people were killed after a Russian strike hit Ukraine’s Bucha district near Kyiv on Saturday, Ukrainian officials said, damaging dozens of homes and triggering a major fire in the area, CNN reported.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration, told CNN that at least 50 residential buildings were damaged in the attack. He said the blaze that followed spread to several houses and a restaurant.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike hit a warehouse in the village of Myla, causing a detonation. While he did not specify what was stored at the facility, he said authorities had opened criminal proceedings over suspected official negligence.
“There are regulations in place — ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas,” Zelenskyy said.
The strike came as Kyiv endured a third consecutive day of near-continuous air raids, severely disrupting daily life and economic activity in the Ukrainian capital.
The latest attacks occurred more than four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
