27-Year-Old Man Arrested for Pro-Pakistan Facebook Post

   

SRINAGAR: A 27-year-old man from Sambhal district has been arrested and sent to jail for allegedly sharing a video supporting Pakistan on his Facebook page, media reports said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Jamaat Ali, a resident of Mukrabpur village, was booked under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for acts deemed to endanger the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.

According to media reports citing Hazrat Nagar Garhi Station House Officer Anuj Kumar Tomar, Ali had posted a video on Facebook allegedly claiming that a Rafale fighter jet belonging to the Indian Air Force had been shot down by Pakistani forces and that the pilot had been captured.

Further investigation revealed that Ali had also liked and shared multiple other videos endorsing pro-Pakistan content, police said, referencing the contents of the First Information Report (FIR).

The case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Dheerendra Kumar. Ali was subsequently taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.

The police have warned that sharing content that is misleading or seditious in nature on social media platforms will attract strict legal action.
