27 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment Secured in Three Convictions in Kashmir: Police

   

SRINAGAR: Police on Monday said that they have secured convictions in three different cases involving four accused persons in a rape case at PS Kangan, a POCSO case, and an NDPS case at Ganderbal.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “In a landmark judgment, conviction was obtained against Mohammad Saleem Taploo, son of Mohammad Maqbool Taploo, resident of Anchar Soura A/P Saidpura, Eidgah Srinagar, for offences under Section 363 RPC and Section 4 of POCSO in connection with a minor survivor. The Hon’ble court convicted the accused for both offences, sentencing him to rigorous imprisonment for 7 years and a fine of Rs 25,000 for kidnapping, which will run separately, and rigorous imprisonment for 20 years with a fine of Rs 50,000 for the offences under POCSO.”

According to the police spokesperson, in the second case, Ganderbal Police secured a conviction against Aamir Ashraf Zargar, son of Mohammad Ashraf Zargar, a resident of Waripora Safapora, for offences under Sections 363 RPC and 376 RPC. “The court sentenced the accused to 7 years of imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 for kidnapping, to run concurrently with 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 for the rape offences.”

“In the third case, registered under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, Ganderbal Police secured a conviction against two accused persons, Sahil Ahmad Khan, son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan, and Rizwan Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Hassan Khan, both residents of Khan Mohalla Pati Shallbugh Ganderbal. The court sentenced both accused to 6 months of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each. This conviction was obtained within three months,” it reads.
