SRINAGAR: Police in Samba have registered twelve FIRs against house and land owners for not providing details of their tenants, as part of a drive launched to verify tenants and outsiders across the district.
The Samba Police initiated the verification process for individuals staying as tenants or domestic helpers. “As a result, four cases were registered at Police Station Samba, three cases each at Police Stations Bari Brahmana and Ramgarh, and one case each at Police Stations Vijaypur and Ghagwal under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” a police spokesperson in a statement said.
Despite orders from the District Magistrate Samba for police verification of tenants, those booked failed to comply with the directive.
SSP Samba urged local residents to promptly provide full details of their tenants and domestic helpers to the nearest police station and ensure timely police verification. (GNS)
