SRINAGAR: Police have booked three workers from proscribed Jamat-e-Islami organization under Unlawful Activities Act in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Police sources told a local news agency Kashmir News Trust that three activists from Jamat-e-Islami were arrested earlier and today they were booked on charges of harbouring, aiding militants and hatching conspiracy.

These workers have been identified as Mudasir Hasan Mir a resident of Sallar, Abdul Hayat Alaie of Audoora Kulgam, living at present in Sallar village and Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Lever village.

Sources said that a case vide FIR number 35/2021 has been registered against the trio. They have been booked under section 10 (Penalty for being a member of an unlawful association, etc.) 11 (Penalty for dealing with funds of an unlawful association) 13 (Punishment for unlawful activities) 18 (Punishment for conspiracy, etc) 19 (Punishment for harbouring, etc) 20 (Punishment for being member of gang or militant organisation) 38 (Offence relating to membership of a militant organisation) 39 (Offence relating to support given to a militant organisation) 40 (Offence of raising fund for a militant organisation) of ULA (P) Act.
