Kupwara police arrested three absconding accused involved in the honor killing of a girl at Malagund Sever Lolab. Police also issued a detailed history of the case on Thursday.

Kupwara police arrested three more absconding accused Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Sidiq Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah, residents of Malagund and Abdul Gani Pir son of Mohammad Sadiq Pir resident of Shortmuqam, who were involved in the Honor killing of a girl on February 16, 2012, at Malagund Sever Lolab, Kupwara.

The charge sheet of the case FIR NO 07/12 U/S 302,342,120-B RPC of police station Lalpora was filed before the court Principal Sessions Judge Kupwara  against 08 accused persons on April 23,2012,with awaiting report of FSL Srinagar. However, consequent upon receipt of FSL report which stated that it was a case of poisoning.

Trial court had ordered further investigation of the case and accordingly a special investigation team headed by Sajad Khaliq Bhat, Dy Superintendent of Police (Hqr’s) Kupwara together with eight other ranks was constituted  by Muhammad Irshad, Superintendent of Police Kupwara on August 28,2012.

Accordnig to a police statement the investigation revealed that the victim was having an affair with one Wiqar Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam  Nabi Khan resident of  Cheepora Lolab and in fact both  had arranged a Nikkah ceremony on  October 15,2011, secretly.

The family of Wiqar Ahmad Khan had sent the proposal of marriage of Wiqar Ahmad Khan with the victim to the family of the victim which was rejected by the family of victim on account of caste difference as the victim belonged to a Pir dynasty while as the other side belonged from Khan dynasty.

On February12,2012 the victim had gone to the house of Brother-in-law of Wiqar Ahmad Khan at her own; however, she was sent back by the family and was handed over to her father.

“Consequent upon the incident, the father of the victim had called an emergency Nikah Khawani in his house on February 14,2012 where a   compulsive and forcible Nikah khawani of the victim was solicited with Naseer Ahmad Shah resident of Malagund Sever. In the Nikah ceremony both advocate as well  witnesses, on behalf of victim gave false testimony before the Molvi  who solicited the Nikah and in fact the girl (victim)  did not  give her consent. The victim was forcibly sent with her husband and the victim was accompanied with Abdul Hamid Shah resident of Shortmuqam Lolab, Nazir Ahmad Pir resident of  Madmadve Kalarooch and brother of the victim and in fact these people had been sent by father of the victim  in order  to keep  an eye upon her activities ,who stayed put in the house of  her husband.” A police statement said.

However, the girl remained adamant and did not take meals in protest. When Wiqar Ahmad Khan got to know about the forcible Nikah of the victim with Naseer Ahmad Shah he along with his kin approached to Sogam court for obtaining warrant under section 100 CrPC for recovery of the victim but couldn’t  succeed  and on February16,2012 Wiqar and his kin approached to PP Khurhama for relief. When  Abdul Hamid and Nazir Ahmad  came to know that other side is managing warrant under section 100 Cr PC for recovery of the  victim and on this accused hatched a criminal conspiracy in connivance with father of the victim in the house of Naseer Ahmad Shah at Malagund Lolab and arranged/managed Diazepam injection Nivon (poison) and thereafter the victim was given Diazepam in the house of her husband  as a result she got unconscious followed by Nivon as a result the victim got killed. The police statement added.

On the same day, February 16,2012 when  police party of PP Khurhama went to the house of Naseer Ahmad Shah at  Malagund Sever Lolab but by the time police party reached Malagund ,the girl  was already killed. The accused took advantage of the other side who were accompanying the police, raised cries /slogans that the victim has been killed by the residents of Cheepora(other side) in order to attribute death to them. Police statement concluded.
