SRINAGAR: A 30-year-old youth from the Ali Kadal area of Srinagar died under mysterious circumstances in New Delhi, with his family alleging that unknown persons attacked him.
Quoting an official, KNO reported that the youth’s body was brought to Srinagar this morning after he allegedly died in Delhi under unexplained conditions.
“As per Delhi Police, the incident occurred the day before when they received a call from a member of the public about a boy hitting his head in a public park. Police reached the spot and took him to the hospital, after which his family was informed,” the official said.
He added that inquest proceedings are underway and a postmortem has been conducted.
The deceased has been identified as Zubair Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Sehyar Ali Kadal, Srinagar.
“The family has informed us that he had a history of migraine, but was in good health recently. We are assisting the family and have told them they can contact or visit the police station at any time if they have concerns,” the official added.
Family members lost contact with Zubair after 4 p.m. on Monday and were later informed of his death. “He used to travel to Delhi regularly for work-related matters,” they said.
They also claimed to possess screenshots of chats suggesting he was assaulted in the locality where he was staying. “We urge the authorities to conduct a fair investigation and bring those responsible to justice,” the family members said. (KNO)
