SRINAGAR: As many as 300 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) remain incomplete in Kulgam district, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Government, which said district and block-level teams have been directed to expedite their completion.
The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj said a target of 5,867 houses had been allotted to Kulgam district under PMAY-G. Of these, 5,567 beneficiaries have completed construction of their houses, while work on 300 houses remains unfinished.
The department provided the figures in response to a starred question, D No. 1/6/246, tabled by Devsar MLA Peerzada Feroze Ahmad regarding housing assistance for landless and houseless households under PMAY-G.
The block-wise details of the 300 incomplete houses have been provided in Annexure D accompanying the government reply. The reply itself did not reproduce the block-wise breakup.
On eligible landless and houseless households, the government said beneficiaries living in zero, one or two-room houses with kutcha walls and roofs have been identified under PMAY-G 2.0. The district, block and constituency-wise details have been provided separately in Annexure A.
In Devsar constituency, 38 beneficiaries were identified as landless under PMAY-G. Of these, nine eligible beneficiaries have been provided land under the scheme, with their details listed in Annexure C.
The government said details of landless and houseless eligible beneficiaries who have been provided houses in Devsar constituency are contained in Annexure B.
Beneficiaries identified under PMAY-G 2.0 who remain to be covered will be provided houses after the ongoing exercise for preparation of the Permanent Wait List (PWL) is completed. The government said the exercise was nearing completion.
To address delays in completing sanctioned houses, district and block-level teams have been constituted to monitor implementation of PMAY-G.
The government said strict directions had been issued to the concerned teams to ensure that all left-out and incomplete houses are taken up and completed on priority.
Panchayat Secretaries and other Panchayat-level functionaries have also been tasked with regularly motivating and facilitating beneficiaries to complete construction within the stipulated timeframe.
