SRINAGAR: Thirty-one healthcare institutions are presently functioning in the Bandipora Assembly constituency, while three health infrastructure projects are under execution, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo informed the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday.
Replying to a question by MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Itoo said the functioning institutions include the District Hospital, ANMT School, Primary Health Centres, New Type Primary Health Centres and Health and Wellness Centres.
She said the Government was taking measures to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, manpower and service delivery, particularly in peripheral, underserved, remote and difficult areas.
On manpower, the minister said the J&K Public Service Commission had recommended 416 Medical Officers, of whom 335 had so far been appointed. She said the doctors would be posted keeping in view the healthcare requirements of peripheral and underserved areas.
Itoo also informed the House that 466 non-gazetted posts under the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, had been referred to the recruiting agency for selection of eligible candidates.
On infrastructure, she said health facilities were being upgraded and augmented in a phased manner. Three projects were currently under execution in the Bandipora constituency and would further strengthen healthcare services upon completion.
Responding to concerns over incomplete, abandoned or unused health infrastructure, Itoo said no health institution in the constituency had been abandoned, as per available records, and some projects were currently under execution.
She said the NTPHC Quil Muqam was fully functional, while the NTPHC Wular Lake was likely to be completed by the end of the current financial year. The District Hospital Bandipora, she added, was also fully functional.
