SRINAGAR: A joint search and rescue operation was launched by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police in Bandipora district on Monday to trace a 31-year-old man who is suspected to have drowned in Nalla Madmati in the Natipora area.
The missing man has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Gujjar, son of Mohammad Gulab Gujjar, a resident of Yala Banakoot in Bandipora.
Officials said the operation was initiated after the man went missing and was suspected to have drowned in the nallah.
Teams from the SDRF and local police are carrying out searches in and around the water channel to locate and retrieve the missing man.
The search operation was underway at the time of filing this report.
