32 Amarnath Pilgrims Injured After Yatra Bus Skids Off Road in Ganderbal

   

SRINAGAR: At least 32 Amarnath pilgrims were injured after a Yatra bus skidded off the road near the S-Mode stretch at Hariganiwan in the Gund area of Ganderbal district on Tuesday, prompting a multi-agency rescue operation, officials said.

Rescue teams comprising personnel from the 1YYZ18 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Health Department and the Civil Police, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gund, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

According to officials, all 32 injured pilgrims were initially taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Kangan, from where they were referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for specialised treatment.

The rescue operation was continuing at the time of the latest update. Officials said the cause of the accident and the condition of the injured pilgrims were yet to be ascertained.
