SRINAGAR

A police spokesman said four persons were injured in different incidents in Srinagar on Friday. These included three cops and a homemaker.

“Situation remained largely peaceful barring sporadic incidents of stone pelting at Saraf Kadal, Batamaloo in District Srinagar and on Cement Bridge, Baramulla,” a police spokesman said. “Police exercised maximum restraint and dispersed the (stone) peltors.”

The spokesman said three policemen and a lady Haneefa were injured during the day. The lady, a resident of Soibugh (Budgam), according to police, was waiting for a bus and was injured when some miscreants pelted stones on police deployments near Fire Services crossing in Batamaloo. “As a precautionary measure, heavy deployments of police were made today at few places in Srinagar,” the spokesman added.

Situation improved later in the evening when the deployments were withdrawn. Traffic, mostly private cars, started plying in certain areas in uptown.
