From last three years (2010-2012), the state of Jammu and Kashmir has reported 687 militancy related incidents. During the same time, 404 militants, 93 civilians, 41 police/SPO/VDC and 76 paramilitary forces were killed across J&K.
The facts surfaced in the autumn session of J&K Assembly when government in a written reply to a question by MLA Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari revealed the details.
The state witnessed 368, 195 and 124 militancy related incidents in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively. During the same period, 232, 100 and 72 militants were gunned down across state respectively.
The government reply reveals that 47 civilian lives were devoured in 2010, followed by 31 and 15 civilian casualties in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
From 2010-12, the state reported 3408 stone pelting incidents with 2794 in 2010, 330 in 2011 and 284 in 2012. Civilian casualties stand at 115 during the same time with 109 in 2010 alone. Only one casualty of government forces has been reported during the same time.
