Revenue Department has notified a land bank for carrying out plantation on State land to preserve the land resources and for providing alternate land to forest department in lieu of forest land involved in new and ongoing developmental projects.

As per official spokesperson, the decision was taken in meeting of Revenue officers chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary after a month-long exercise conducted by the field functionaries of Revenue Department.

An area of 41,033 Kanal has been finalised for Community Plantation and Land Resource Preservation.

The land bank earmarked for fencing, plantation and transfer of management to forest department include 4852 Kanals in Tehsil Tryath, 3488 Kanals in Koteranka, 313 Kanal in Manjakote, 5725 Kanal in Rajouri, 14545 Kanal in Sunderbani, 1430 Kanal in Thanamandi, 1530 Kanal in Kalakote, 1602 Kanal in Darhal, 1037 Kanal in Nowshera, 359 Kanal in Siot, 2523 Kanal in Khwas and 3624 Kanal in Tehsil Qila Darhal.

A plan has been formulated for fencing and plantation of this land in a phased manner and allowing user rights to local communities residing in adjoining areas, the statement said.

Around 10,000 Kanal land will be exclusive land bank for Forest Department which will be managed by Forest Department and will also be used in exchange of forest land falling under developmental projects like roads.

The committee headed by Deputy Commissioner also approved 20 locations in district for establishment of community petrol pumps.

These include 3 in Tehsil Rajouri, 1 in Khwas, 2 in Manjakote, 2 in Koteranka, 1 in Kalakote, 2 in Nowshera, 2 in Sunderbani, 2 in Beripattan, 2 in Tryath, 1 each in Darhal and Qila Darhal and 1 in Thanamandi tehsil.

The meeting also approved proposals for land allotted/donated for 91 out of 100 schools coming up under a project initiated by District Administration for providing buildings to schools functioning without building across the district.

Dr Shahid spelled out plan for removal of encroachments especially along roads and in suburbs. He directed Tehsildars for strict action against the encroachers.
