Lawmakers from NC and Congress disrupted the start of the question hour by raking the Akhnoor attack in which three GREF personnel were killed in an attack near Akhnoor. They sought response of the government on the attack.

“Three jawans were killed and we do not know what happened,” NCs Devinder Singh Rana said, while all the members of the NC and Congress were on their legs. “Where has the 56 inch chest gone missing? Was it just a militant attack or the surgical strike by Pakistan?”

The opposition intervention infuriated the treasury benches. Some BJP lawmakers resorted to sloganeering against Pakistan.

The issue settled with the government announcing that the Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti will make a formal statement on the issue at 11 am.

Three labourers working for General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) were killed in a week hour attack Monday. The attack was reported at around 1:15 am near Pattal where 10 GREF men and their labour force was staying. After the attack, the army has started searches in the belt, Akhnoor is a border area which has otherwise massive security deployement. The detachment was located not more than 3 kms from the Line of Control.
