The statement issued by J&K Police informed that militants fired upon the guards at the residence of a political activist at Bapora Khrew in Pampore on Sunday afternoon.
In the firing incident, two policemen Head Constable Abdul Hamid and Constable Vinod Kumar were injured who were rushed to nearby hospital; where they succumbed to their injuries. The militants decamped with a SLR rifle from the spot.
“Soon after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area,” the statement said. “The militants were trapped at Gotran Khrew and an encounter followed.”
In this encounter, the statement informed, two militants were killed.
“Two AK 47 rifles and the snatched SLR rifle were recovered from the encounter site,” the statement said.
“The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.”
