Amid protests, clashes erupted in North Kashmir’s Hajin town of Bandipora district after Friday congregational prayers against the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat workers.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that scores of protestors soon after Friday prayers took to streets and amid pro-freedom slogans marched towards police station. However, the armed men deployed on roads foiled their march and stopped them.
The youth according to reports resorted to stone-pelting while government forces used tear-smoke shells to disperse them. The clashes between the protestors and police continued for hours.
A police official said that some miscreants tried to disrupt the peace in the area, however, the timely intervention of police brought things under control.
