The state government today informed that it has transferred 65 kanals of state land at Saidapora Idgah Srinagar to the Higher Education Department for construction of new campus for the Government Womens College, Nawakadal.
Replying to a question by Mohammad Yasin Shah, the higher education minister, Muhammad Akbar Lone informed that the land so transferred to the Department needed earth-filling on large scale and required huge development cost prior to initiation of any construction work.
The Minister said that as per the decision during taken the meeting held on December 08, 2011 under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, it was decided that the Higher Education Department shall explore possibility of constructing the college at its present location at Nawakadal, Srinagar.
Abdul Gani Malik and Irfan Shah also raised supplementaries on the same question.
