SRINAGAR: Official data reveals that from 2019 to January 31, 2024, at least 69 militants were killed in Srinagar district, while more than 200 have been apprehended in the area.

However, the official noted that in 2023 and the first month of 2024, no militants were killed in the district.

Furthermore, it was revealed that from 2019 to 2023, at least 204 militants were arrested. However, as of January 2024, no militants had been arrested in Srinagar district.

This information was disclosed by the Public Information Officer (PIO) of Srinagar district police in response to a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by activist M M Shuja.

The official figures indicate that in 2019, at least four militants were killed in Srinagar, followed by 22 in 2020. In 2021, 24 militants were killed, with 19 militant killings in 2022. Additionally, official figures show that in 2023 and until the end of January 2024, no militants were killed in Srinagar district.

According to the official figures, the lowest number of militant killings in Srinagar occurred in 2019, while the highest number was recorded in 2021—(KNO)
