Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Wednesday convened a meeting to review the ongoing plantation drive in the Valley.

Besides all Deputy Commissioners of the Valley and DC Kargil, who joined the meeting through Video Conferencing, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Deputy Director, Planning, Conservator of Forests, Chief Wild Life Warden, Regional Social Forestry Officer and officers from Education Horticulture, Floriculture, R&B, SMC, Soil Conservation, Tourism departments and representative of Beacon were present in the meeting.

The Conservator, Forests, informed the meeting that the Department had planted 7.00 lac saplings out of the targeted 9.22 lacs so far.

The Div Com directed all the DCs to hold a meeting with the officers of Forest, Social Forestry, Wild Life, Floriculture, Horticulture, Soil Conservation, Education, R&B and other concerned Departments and constitute committees to allot specific areas for plantation to stop overlapping of plantation in an area.

He also directed all the DCs to demarcate all highways, major roads sides and streets and to issue order to the R&B and Forest departments for proper plantation in their respective districts. DCs have also been asked to make monitoring committees in order to ensure judicious use of funds in this regard.

Div Com also directed the concerned officers to draw a plan of action and submit a report within a week.
