SRINAGAR: A 70-year-old pedestrian succumbed to his injuries a day after being hit by a motorcycle at Achabal Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said the accident occurred on the morning of September 22 when a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AV-4666, ridden by 19-year-old Asif Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Naikoo, hit a pedestrian identified as Ghulam Hassan Rangraz, 70, son of Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Shelipora, Achabal.
Asif Bilal is presently residing in Shelipora, Achabal, and is originally from Gadhol Kokernag, officials said.
Both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Achabal for treatment.
The injured pedestrian was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, officials said.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation. (GNS)
