SRINAGAR: The Centre on Tuesday said 373 Jan Aushadhi Kendras were functional in Jammu and Kashmir as of June 30, 2026, as part of the government’s initiative to provide affordable generic medicines.
According to data tabled by Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Anupriya Patel in the Rajya Sabha, a total of 20,149 Jan Aushadhi Kendras had been opened across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) till June 30.
Jammu and Kashmir accounted for 373 of these centres, while three were functional in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras at 4,226, followed by Kerala with 1,833, Karnataka with 1,720 and Tamil Nadu with 1,631.
The government said it has outlined a plan to expand the network and set a target of opening 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
The details were provided in response to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha seeking state and Union Territory-wise details of functional Jan Aushadhi Kendras and the government’s plans for expanding the network.
